WTS Ortona - Imbarco reattori

Loading of 12 tanks at the port of Ortona on behalf of Walter Tosto S.p.A.

At the port of Ortona, SIMI Srl managed the entire logistics and handling for loading 12 large tanks onto barges, commissioned by Walter Tosto S.p.A., destined for international projects in the energy and process industry sectors.

The operations required the use of 48 axles of SPMT (Self Propelled Modular Transporters), divided and reconfigured according to the specific requirements of each item. The different SPMT configurations were designed to ensure stability, safety, and precision during every phase of internal transport and loading.

The tanks had variable dimensional characteristics and weights, with the largest item reaching a length of 110 meters and a total weight of 950 tonnes.

Activities were carried out in multiple phases, including movement from pre-assembly yards to barge mooring, with coordinated operations between the technical team, SPMT operators, and port personnel. All operations were carried out in compliance with current safety regulations and with optimized timing.

The project was completed in one week of work, including the entire internal logistics and final loading.

The video shows the main phases of the operation, with particular attention to the transport configurations adopted and the operational methods used at the port of Ortona.
