VV Sector – Ortona
At the port of Ortona, SIMI Srl carried out a complex logistics operation involving the transfer and loading of a VV Sector module, destined for an international industrial project. The operation involved two main phases: transfer of the cargo from one quay to another via barge and subsequent loading onto a vessel.
The first phase involved moving the module from the initial storage point to the barge, moored at the departure quay. For this operation, SIMI used a configuration of self-propelled modular transporters (SPMT) with 12 axles in 4 rows, designed to ensure optimal load distribution and stability during loading and transfer phases. The convoy was precisely positioned on board the barge, enabling safe navigation to the destination quay.
Once at the destination, the module was unloaded from the barge and, again using SPMT, transported to the designated point for loading onto the vessel. Subsequent operations for lifting and positioning the piece in the hold were conducted in coordination with the on-board technical team, ensuring completion of the loading under maximum safety and operational efficiency.
