Ultra-Long Convoy Transporting a 250-Ton Transformer - Naples
Transport and handling operation of a transformer weighing 305 tons, including all logistical and operational phases from the manufacturing site through to its subsequent loading for shipment at the Port of Naples.
We managed the entire handling and transportation operation of a 305-ton transformer, overseeing all logistical and operational phases from the manufacturing facility through to its final loading at the Port of Naples.
The operation began with the loading of the transformer at the production site, where the unit was positioned onto a transport convoy specifically configured for heavy-haul and oversized cargo transportation.
The transfer to the Port of Naples was carried out using 400-ton lifting beams and modular trailers, a configuration designed to ensure proper load distribution and enable the safe transportation of the transformer throughout the entire route.
Upon arrival at the port area, the convoy was dismantled to allow the next phase of the operation to proceed. The transformer was then transshipped onto an SPMT (Self-Propelled Modular Transporter), which was used to accurately manage its movements within the port and prepare the cargo for loading onto the vessel.
The operation was successfully completed with the transfer and loading of the transformer onto the ship.
